GENEROSITY

Conference attracted a large crowd of community members and patients to learn about current health issues and trends from Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center’s leading experts. Made possible by a generous $100,000 donation from Chico’s, numerous seminars throughout the day-long event focused on timely health topics and trends including how to prevent, live with, and battle cancer; raising healthy children; vitamins and supplements and other elements to support healthy lifestyles; and stress management in a 24/7 world. The conference was held at the JW Marriott Marquis Miami, and

featured two keynote speakers who are nationally known health experts: University of Miami President and former U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services, Donna E. Shalala, Ph.D., and Andrew Weil, M.D., world-renowned leader and pioneer in the field of integrative medicine. Emmy-award-winning TV news anchor Jackie Nespral of NBC Miami also spoke at the conference luncheon. Sylvester introduced the WellBeingWell Conference in 2008 as a

way to educate the community about how to prevent, live with, and survive cancer. Based on the conference’s success, Sylvester also offers A Slice of WellBeingWell workshops that take place at workplaces and gatherings for groups of 30-40 people, with one or two doctors presenting.
