Over in the US, more business schools are preparing students for careers in the growing areas of financial regulation, compliance, negotiations and public affairs. The Fletcher School at Tufts University, an elite school for diplomacy and international law, recently launched a two-year Master in International Business (MIB) as an alternative to the MBA, that brings these disciplines together with traditional subjects like accounting and finance.

France


Paris is the capital of French finance and luxury goods, but the Silicon Alps region close to Switzerland is home to research centres for hi-tech firms such as HP, STMicroelectronics, Schneider Electric and Caterpillar, and many of their suppliers. Business schools with strong links to firms in the region include Grenoble Ecole de Management and EMLYON, which both offer well-regarded MBA programs. This is Europe’s hub for


well-established hi-tech firms as well as start-ups. Great for engineers.


Australia


Australia’s economy has also escaped the worst of the global downturn thanks to demand from China for its abundant natural resources.
