Further your opportunities with a UQ Research Higher Degree
Unique in the Australian market, the ‘UQ Career Advantage PhD Program’ accelerates career development and enhances a participant’s employability through advanced, professionally focused training.
Designed exclusively for PhD students, the program allows participants to choose from three
career pathways approximately 12 months into their research project. Each career pathway delivers a three-day workshop, and a suite of academic and practical training activities selected by the student. These training activities have been designed in consultation with academics and research experts both within Australia and across the globe, as well as key industry partners, research students, and graduates.
The Career Advantage PhD Program does not replace a student’s core research training, but provides additional experience and knowledge that is synonymous with opportunity and choice at UQ. The program is free of charge. Upon graduation, students who participate in the program will receive a formal statement of recognition that attests to the enhanced nature of their research training and experience. UQ Advantage in Action
A UQ internship program is helping students work with vulnerable communities around the world.
UQ Master of Development Practice student Rebecca Upton said it was very fulfilling to work on projects delivering real benefits for communities. Ms Upton completed her internship with the International Development Division of UQ’s main commercialisation company UniQuest, and is now working part time for the expanding group.
“My passion lies with working in developing countries, so it’s been a fantastic experience to work with UniQuest, which has such a great reputation and involved with a lot of important projects overseas,” Ms Upton said.
