Goofy name or not, Smokin Cat Wacky (WR This Cats Smart by High Brow Cat X Bobs Smokin Spook, by Bob Acre Doc) is a Champion with Erin showing in the $200,000 Limited Classic/Challenge Finals and a winning score of 222. The pair collected a check for $6,222. This is Wacky’s last aged event, and Erin thought, “It is a good way to go out!.” This year, Wacky also was the Reserve Champion in March at the PCCHA show, and he won in Idaho. Open Finals on Saturday night, the cut- ters were a little more subdued and the parking lots were beginning to clear of trailers and motor homes. Sunday, October 30 started with the $50,000 Amateur Classic/Challenge of 11 riders on 5 and 6 year old horses. Spookys Smarty Rey (Dual Rey X Spookys Smarty Pants by Smart Aristocrat) was the first to go and scored a neat 217. Tom Bailey, of Carbondale, Colorado, is the retired Wall Street whiz turned ranch- er/cutter, who owns Iron Rose Ranch. Gary Gonsalves trains for him, and Tom puts a lot of stock in Gary. The next horse in the herdwas the sor-
rel gelding CD Headlight (CD Lights by CD Olena X Peppeco Lena by Peppy Lena San) ridden by Stephen Silva of Atascadero, CA. CD Headlight marked a 217. He waited through the next 9 hors- es to see the results of his effort, and lo and behold he emerged the reigning 2011 Champion $50,000 Amateur Classic/Challenge and Tom Bailey became the Reserve Champion.Working with Futurity Champion trainer Morgan
Cromer, Steve said that Morgan bought the horse for him, and has been in the finals of every aged event he has entered, such as the Texas Super Spectacular. Steve picked up a check for $2,626. On top of that he also won the $25,000 Amateur Finals for $2,238 and the Gelding division for another $2,120. Tom Bailey’s paycheck for the Reserve Championship of the $50,000 Amateur Classic/Challenge was $2,444, plus he won the Senior Division for $2,513.

Sunday contained 5 miniature cowboys and cowgirls all under the age of 13. Brandon Westfall, riding a great little horse named Smartest PeanutYet showed the big boys how it’s done by marking a 219 and winning the Championship. Brandon is the son of trainer Russ Westfall and Non Pro rider Janet Westfall. Obviously cutting is all in the family! Brandon received a scholarship for $750. Brandon won on the same horse last year in the JuniorYouth Finals, and if he keeps up the high marks and his winning ways, he’ll be beating the pros in no time! Christopher Brennan took the Reserve Championship with a 218 run on Miss Pepnic, and received a scholarship for $500. Senior Youth Invitational Champion Chrissy Madgwick riding Smarty Hicat Annie The SeniorYouth division consists of
up and coming cutters between the ages of 14 - 18 years. The $1,000 scholarship for the Champion of the Senior Youth division was earned by Chrissy Madgwick with the high score of 221 riding Smarty Hicat Annie. Chrissy lives in Lake Hughes on a ranch and grew up on a horse. Morgan Cromer is her men- tor.

He was ½ point over the other huge and fabulous score of 227 earned by Dave Costello riding Buddies Hallmark. Total monies raised and paid out in the Bridle-less was $16,400!
