DB Rail Polska, part of DB Schenker Rail, is deploying the WoodTainer containerised wood- chip transportation system from Austria-based Innofreight to sup- ply the Elektrownia Siersza Rrzebinia biomass power station in Katowice, Poland. As previously reported, the


WoodTainer is an open top, tip- ping bulk container concept that is covered by a number of Innofreight patents. The 20ft long unit has a volumetric capacity of 46 m3. With a tare of 2.9t, this translates into a maximum gross load of 23t in woodchips. Typically in the Polish appli-


cation, three units are toploaded by wheel loaders on 60ft rail cars. On arrival at the power plant, the containers are offloaded by en- gaging a heavy FLT in the fork pockets. The

Boost for RAM in the Americas


RAM Spreaders has reported or- ders for six 20-40ft single lift spreaders for mobile harbour crane (MHC) applications in Bra- zil, inclusing four for a customer in the Port of Santos. On top of that, four RAM spreaders will be fitted to new MHCs being sup- plied to a terminal on the US West Coast. It


is not clear whether the


spreaders have been ordered by the end users or the OEM(s), al- though normally with new MHC contracts the spreader is sourced by the OEM. RAM’s 41t SWL type 2700 single lift MHC spreader is specifi- cally designed with weight saving features, to maximise the crane’s lifting capacity at longer outreaches. It is of a robust, double beam design that has less inertia when be- ing rotated unladen, says RAM. The spreader is fitted with six
