Grey Coat Issue 16: October 2011 Parents' guild
Fund raising Puddings For the past four years the Guild have sold puddings made especially for us by the Ultimate Plum Pudding Company of Kendal. Not just their magnificent plum puddings but also their Triple Chocolate, Triple Ginger and, for the first time, their new Sozzled Sultana variety. Due to huge demand last year we have increased the number we have ordered but PLEASE do not leave your order to the last minute. At £6 for the 1lb pudding (all flavours) and £11 for the 2lb Christmas pudding they are a delicacy not to be missed. Each make wonderful presents and can be collected at the Christmas Fair on Friday the 9th December or from the School Office the following week. Don’t Delay, Order Today! Download an order form from the website or collect one from the Lower School office. Single serving Christmas puddings will be on sale again this year at the Christmas Fair. At a mere £1.50 they make a perfect extra for discerning uncles, aunts, friends or Father Christmas.
Christmas Fair This seamlessly follows the Carol Service on the 9th December (see below) and is always great fun. Please walk those three hundred yards from St Stephen’s Church, Rochester Row and come along to support the girls and the school by joining the festivities. We shall be running a mince pie and mulled wine stall and selling cakes, biscuits, jams, preserves and chutneys. All contributions welcome so please get cooking. Donations can be brought to the fair or dropped off before the service.

Year 9 Peer Counsellors
The Y9 Peer Counsellors were chosen following an interview last term. Every week they attend a training session with me and we cover topics such as listening skills, mediation and working sensitively with difference. Earlier this term, they also attended a special Y7 PSHE lesson with me covering transition and change. In addition to this they have been doing presentations on the service in Y7 and Y8 assembly and going to Y7 form time and so have been kept very busy! On top of this, they are all very committed and keen to help. Hopefully an ad- ditional bonus for them is that they will also be able to use this experience of helping and learning new skills for their own personal growth as they mature and grow in confidence.

I'm Lottie and I'm one of the Lower School Peer Counsellors, along with eleven other Year 9 students. The peer counsellors are there for the other Lower School students, espe- cially Year Seven, helping them if they are lost, worried or just generally want to speak to someone closer their own age. Anyone can come to us with any problem and it will remain confidential in almost every case. We run a drop-in on Tuesdays and Thursdays in A13 from around 1.10. But any student can find us at anytime in school and we can be identified by our jumpers and badges.
