Grey Coat 4 Issue 16: October 2011 Work Experience 2011


In July 2011 the current Year 11 participated in 9 days of work experience. I have thoroughly enjoyed looking through the Log books that the students had completed whilst on placement these reflected and evaluated their experiences in the world of work. I must congratulate all the students as the feedback from employers and visiting staff this year was exceptional, very positive, lots of praise for the students below is a selection of comments from the employers report forms.

encouraging; my task was made simpler in that she arrived with literate and numeracy skills – a vital necessity in the work of the library. Quickly picking up instructions and procedures and she will gain more confidence with experience

department covers were shown in her presentation which had our chief engineer blown away with her knowledge of our systems, one of her highlights was when we left her to control a traffic signal junction all by herself. It was impressive that Eleanor was able to understand each of the components of our systems and the context of how this affects the travelling public. I hope

It has been an absolute delight


having Bethany working with us in the drama dept. I find it hard to believe she is only 15 as she approaches her work with such maturity and dedication. I was most impressed as she demonstrated excellent analytical skills and a real creative flair. (Channel 4)

I can only think of positive points as I think Polly is a very employable person. She has a lovely polite manner, keen and interested to try new things and quickly grasp the task in hand. Everyone has enjoyed having her and would welcome her back. (National Portrait Gallery)
