Grey Coat Issue 16: October 2011 Design & Technology news
Year 12 and 13 students were extremely privileged to meet Bosnian born Textile Designer Nada Herceg during their Design and technology lesson this term. Nada spoke to them all about how she became a textile designer and showed them a number of her beautiful prints and inspiring sketchbooks including work from her latest collection which is being sold at the DiGuardo boutique in Notting Hill.
She inspired the students to believe in their own ideas and to look for inspiration in everyday things around them. Two year 12s were lucky enough to be given handmade scarves as it was their birthday!
Nada is a truly inspirational lady who emmigrated from Bosnia to this country during the war. She had never imagined she could become a designer in this land as she had no formal training in design and was bringing up two children (one of them being Lily Sharfiei in year 8). Nevertheless she stuck to her dream and worked very hard
