‘Nutcracker’ dances into CCA, MAC
Tickets are still available for Ballet Etudes’ 25th annual production of “Nutcracker” at Chandler Center for the Arts and Mesa Arts Center.
CCA show times are: 7 p.m. Nov. 25 and 26, Dec. 2 and 3; 2 p.m. Nov. 26; and 3 p.m. Nov. 27 and Dec. 4. MAC performances are: 7 p.m. Dec. 9 and 10, 2 p.m. Dec. 10 and 3 p.m. Dec. 11.
Joining the human cast for the fi rst time ever are dogs from Maricopa County Animal Care and Control. They will appear onstage during Act I’s Party Scene performances at CCA. The canines, which are up for adoption, will be in the lobby during intermission. Also taking the stage for a ninth season is Hamilton High senior and Chandler resident Rachel Sagar, 17, who performs as Clara, a
role she shares with fellow senior company member Payton Kline, 14, of Gilbert.

Join the junior- and senior-high school students of Hamilton Prep Drama Company as they tumble down the rabbit hole and into Wonderland during their presentation of Disney’s “Alice in Wonderland Jr.,” running Thu. through Sat., Dec. 8 through 10 at Hamilton High School, 3700 S. Arizona Ave. When a sleepy Alice falls into Wonderland, her curiosity takes her on a head-spinning adventure. From chasing the White Rabbit and rapping with a bubble-blowing Caterpillar to having tea with the Mad Hatter, she encounters one crazy character after another. Desperate to fi nd her way back “home,” she travels a new road to self-discovery.

BHS mounts ‘Oklahoma!’
The fi rst musical to be performed in four years at Basha High School is “Oklahoma!” which runs through Sat., Nov. 19 at the BHS auditorium at 5990 S. Val Vista Dr. in Southern Chandler. Basha High School choir teacher Vance Acker and Theatre Director Shira Schwartz team up to produce the musical of “love and laughter.”
Acker’s Chamber Choir Ascende del Sole received Superiors at the NAU Jazz and Madrigal Festival this year and Schwartz’ Sudden Impact Competitive (SIC) Team placed fi rst in the National Comedy Theatre All-Star Tournament last May. Tickets can be purchased at the box offi ce on the nights of the event.
