Thank you for supporting this program. Thank you also to Tarwater families for making the Fall Festival a great success, and all the volunteers who helped are appreciated. Courage retreat - Tarwater fourth- and sixth- grade students were able to participate in the Youth Frontiers Kindness and Courage retreats this past month. Both groups were taught skills and strategies in developing stronger character and ways to become productive and compassionate members of our community.

Running club – Almost 200 students have signed up to have fun and stay fit while participating in an after-school running club. Races will begin in third quarter with other schools throughout the district.
Thanks due – Thanks to everyone who contributed to Weinberg’s 6th Annual Golf Tournament. All the volunteers, golfers and parents who donated items for baskets made the tournament a huge success. Class notes – Sixth-graders have been hard at work learning about Egypt. They completed their unit by making Egyptian artifacts and ancient tombs and led classes on tours of both. Sixth- graders are also participating in National Novel Writing Month, writing a novel in 30 days with word goals ranging from 1,500 words to 10,000 words. —Laura Thornburg
