On the day she celebrated her 24th birthday, Jade Winchester of Hurst Green, took part in an emotional event at Hurst Green School.

Jade unveiled a piece of

playground equipment that will be a lasting memory of the son she lost last year.

Alfie Say - his dad is Kyle Say of

Tatsfield - died just before his fifth birthday from DPIG (Diffuse Instrinsic Pontine Glioma) a tumour located in the middle of the brain stem and which renders the nervous systems function impossible.

But before little Alfie tragically died the community rallied around and there was series of major fundraising activities and donations flooded in.

Southern Rail heard about the campaign to give Alfie and his family a better life and when he died the train company made a substantial donation to Alfie’s Train, the colourful and spectacular piece of play apparatus which now sits in the playground of Hurst Green School - Alfie had just started reception class
