Stone Sculpting JOSHUA WIENER Ability: All Levels

This class will introduce beginners to the world of subtractive sculpture or expand the knowledge of more advanced students. Each student will start with a block of stone and study both traditional and contemporary sculpting techniques. The permanence and physicality of the process makes stone sculpture a fulfilling medium; nonetheless, stone is also a surprisingly easy material with which to learn sculpting, and allows for installation in a wide variety of locations. Special note: Open studio is available to registered students with instructor’s permission. Thursdays, 9 am–12 pm | Sept 1, 2011–Apr 26, 2012 | Monthly ongoing $119 per month, $15–$60 materials fee depending on size of stone
