Marketscan adds Experian data to its award-winning Megabase

Chichester-based direct marketing data provider Marketscan has added Experian data into its award- winning Megabase. The company has entered into a licensing agreement with the global information services company that will provide Marketscan with monthly downloads from Experian’s National Business Database, which has 5.1 million limited and non- limited business records.

The addition of the Experian data enables Marketscan to offer even more comprehensive UK coverage whilst maintaining quality and granularity of data.

Prior to the tie-up with Experian, Marketscan recently won the ’Outstanding B2B Data Provider’ category at the Database Marketing Awards 2011.

Thanks to the agreement with Experian, the Marketscan Megabase can now offer an even higher degree of accuracy.

Use of credit data on the rise as late payment trends persists

Some 86% of credit management professionals now use regular credit and business data checks for new customers and suppliers, compared to just 37% last year, thanks to a continued trend in late payments. The finding is from the latest survey conducted jointly by the Institute of Credit Management (ICM) and business information provider Equifax, demonstrating a commitment to reducing the risk of bad debt.

In 2010, 59% reported an

increase in late payments that year, down only slightly this year to 52%. Over a third (36%) are chasing late payments up to three days sooner than they were a year ago, up slightly on 2010. And 20% are chasing four days sooner, compared to 29% 12 months ago.

6 November 2011 The survey shows that the

current market conditions continue to put a strain on businesses, with 65% saying the Government should offer more support to protect small businesses from the negative impact of late payments. This is down on the 77% who said the same last year, but clearly shows a significant level of dissatisfaction. "It's interesting to see that the

use of credit and business data checks has soared in the last 12 months, illustrating its value in managing risk and reducing bad debt," said Mark Nuttall, Director, Equifax Commercial & SME. "Ongoing monitoring and

robust checks continue to offer the best protection from bad debt, helping companies continue to make informed business decisions."

originally developed for purposes other than marketing, such as directory compilation or credit rating.
