10 - November 18, 2011 | Pelham - Windham News Razorbacks Take 2 out of 4 Division 1 State Championships
submitted by Andy Vanti 5th Grade Razorbacks Win Division First State Championship! The 5th Grade Pelham Razorbacks defended their state title with a hard fought win over the Nashua Elks at Stellos Stadium. The Razorbacks took a 9-0 record against a 7-2 Elks team that was riding its own seven-game win streak. The defenses held early as the Razorbacks had their hands full with the Elks running attack but Noah Lynch busted through the line to force a fumble that was pounced on by Blake Woekel. Then it was Garrett Hitchens taking a hand off down the sideline set up by tenacious blocking from Thalan Berger, Cody Stevens, Charlie Beneze, Nick Milano and Devyn Tucci for a 60 yard touchdown run and a 6-0 Razorback lead. On the Elks next possession it was Brett Lindsay, Brandan Mercier and Ryan Marotta gang tackling the Elks runner to force another fumble where once again Woekel pounced on it to get the ball back to the Razorbacks. Next it was time for the Razorback air attack as facing a fourth and long, Cam Homsey threw a strike to Stevens down the middle for a long gain. The play was set up by great blocking from the offensive line lead by Owen Haskins, Reagan Brunelle and Shawn McAdam. Then it was Lindsay to Mercier on a nice 20-yard catch and run setting the Razorbacks up deep in Elks territory. After some hard runs by AJ Caggianelli, Homsey and Marotta, it was Lindsay plowing in behind Caggianelli, Stevens, Tucci and McAdam. Stevens then nailed the extra point with a nice hold from Riley Millette and up front blocking from Thalan Berger. The Elks
6th Grade Razorbacks Win Division First State Championship! The Pelham Razorbacks 6th Grade Team headed to Stellos Stadium in Nashua last Sunday to take on the Goffstown Screaming Eagles for the right to be called State Champions. The game featured the last two remaining undefeated 6th Grade teams in the state. The Razorbacks, starting the game on offense, came out with a great deal of energy and aggressiveness. Using a blend of power running and efficient passing the Razorbacks jumped out to an early lead and never looked back on their way to a dominating 32-0 victory. The Razorbacks defense turned in its best effort of the season as it frustrated and confused the Screaming Eagles offense all game long. Congratulations to the entire team for a fantastic regular season! The season continues for the boys as they head

were not going down without a fight and marched down for a touchdown of their own to cut the lead to 14-6 midway through the second quarter. These Razorbacks do not like getting scored on and took their kickoff right down the field but were faced with fourth and long when Tommy Emrick took a pitch from Caggianelli and followed a wall of downfield blocking lead by Homsey for a 40 yard touchdown run. After Marotta pounded in the extra point following Mercier, Emrick and Woekel, it was 21-6 Razorbacks approaching halftime. Then it was Homsey and Emrick who put the game out of reach as they stood up the Elks runner on the Elks next possession and
Emrick ripped out the ball and took it to the house for his second TD of the day. Stevens was fired up about something as his extra point kick would have been good from 30 yards and at the half, it was Razorbacks 29 and the Elks 6. The second half was a defensive stalemate as both teams kept the other off the scoreboard. Playing some hard- nosed defense for the Razorbacks was Jacoby Pratt and Deven “LT” Debay. Congratulations to all the boys for earning this Championship with outstanding play, sportsmanship and teamwork. Next up is the New England Regional semi-final against Shrewsbury Massachusetts on Sunday, November 20.
