The Devils, who were blown out by Pinkerton 49-14 earlier this season, went down fighting as they kept pace with the Astros through three quarters. In fact, a touchdown by Salem running back Abner Rodriguez with 1:27 left in the third gave the Blue Devils a 20-19 advantage. The Astros roared back with a long rushing touchdown 33

seconds later, however, as they took a 25-20 advantage into the fourth. From there, Pinkerton went on to score two more touchdowns in the final quarter to polish the victory. In addition to the touchdown by Rodriguez,

backfield mate Jerickson Fedrick found the end zone twice for Salem. Each of Fedrick’s touchdowns came in the second quarter, and Rodriguez ran in for the two-point conversion after Fedrick’s second score. That cut Pinkerton’s lead to 19-14 going into the half. The running back trio of Fedrick, Rodriguez, and Mike Downing led Salem’s offense for the day. Fedrick ran the ball 26 times for 120 yards, while Rodriguez gathered 96 yards on 18 carries. Downing also chipped in with 36 rushing yards on seven carries. Salem will finish the 2011 season with a Thanksgiving Day football game versus Lawrence. The Blue Devils are the home team this year and the game is scheduled to kick off at 10 a.m. on
