on Wednesday 26th October saw 20 teams of young golfers coming from all the over the area and putting on a stunning display for all to see. Steve Duck, Managing Director of Integral Collection and main sponsor of the event told Coastal View: “It was mainly Mike Fowle’s idea. I’ve known him since he was a little lad.” Mike, a PE teacher at Laurence Jackson School in Guisborough said: I spoke to Steve after the Euro Pro tour here and I told him it would be great to do something like this for the kids in the area. Steve instantly agreed and said, let’s work together and do it.”
Mike went on to say: “Working in a sport’s
unley Hotel & Golf Club and visitors were treated to a stunning display by
college, I am aware of how important partnerships with local businesses are and Steve offered that useful support. This is great for East Cleveland and for all the young people in this area to showcase their golfing talents." The competition was organised and run in exactly the same way as the PGA event as well as being played on the same course. Steve Duck explained: “With the help
of Elliot Hamilton, Karen Green and her associates and Jonathan Thompson, the course grounds man, the facilities and itinerary were first class. “All who played a part in this great event have my thanks and should be proud to have been involved. It was all very impressive.” Elliot Hamilton, Hunley Hotel & Golf
Club CEO said: “Golf is still considered a rich man’s sport, but it works out cheaper than going to the cinema. “It’s now much more open to everybody. Golf teaches young people discipline,
concentration, manners and about teamwork and the level of these young people is amazing.” Hunley Junior Membership for under 10s
is free and 10 – 17 year olds pay only £60 a year and there is no limit to the amount of times you can play. For full details go to

Teesside Golf Club. The event was summed up by Steve Duck who said: “Today we witnessed an event where we had young golfers showing what remarkable talent we have in our area. “Without the golf clubs and the professionals behind them, events like this would not be possible. “There is a big future ahead in 2012 for Integral Collection and Hunley Hotel & Golf Club to work together and with the support of other local clubs this will only be the start. “We are very proud to be associated with everyone concerned.”
