Best cardio for burning fat. H
igh Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) is a form of cardio
training that alternates periods of high intensity (such as running at pace) with low intensity (such as walking at a moderate rate). Numerous studies show that this form of cardio leads to greater fat loss than the steady state long slow efforts that we are all used to doing. In one study subjects who followed an 8 week HIIT programme lost 20% body fat, while those on a continuous steady state treadmill programme saw no decrease in body fat. A study in Australia showed women losing 6x more body fat than a group performing a 40 minutes cardio programme at a constant intensity. The major reason that HIIT works so well
at burning fat appears to be due to the greater increase in resting metabolic rate that subjects experience following each training session. Glyn Amos from Oxygym gives his simple HIIT workout; Using the treadmill after a 2-3 minute warm up, alternate 1 minute of quick jogging and 1 minute of slow walking for 20-30 minutes. This works particularly well on the treadmill but can be performed on any piece of CV kit. Finish with a slow 2-3 minute walk. Don’t forget exercising in a gym at a constant temperature will see you through the winter months and get you looking in great shape for the spring and summer.
Stay fit and happy.

Marske Utd Juniors By Neil Atkinson
Marske United Juniors Under 12’s would like to thank their fantastic sponsors for the season 2011/12. Without them the club wouldn’t have been able to kit the squad out in the fantastic kit and team wear that they will be showcasing in the TJFA next season. Team Manager Neil Atkinson said ‘ Whilst kids are the lifeblood of any junior football club, sponsors are the heart beat that allows the life blood to flow and allow the coaches to help the whole body to function. Our sponsors make a massive contribution to this fledgling club, one for which we are extremely grateful.
