Coastal View & Moor News Issue 17

Welcome to Coastal View & Moor News Issue 17

W

pages are packed full of events and happenings in our communities as well as our regular columns for which we sincerely thank our contributors for. The Winter Warmth Campaign article, which we carried in the last issue, has caused quite a stir amongst some of our residents, who asked us why their area was forgotten. To these people we say, unfortunately we have nothing to report back to you for this issue as our enquiries to the agencies concerned have so far drawn a blank. But we assure you; we will not let this matter drop and hope to have some answers for you in the next issue of the paper. Boosbeck residents are still campaigning against the proposed plans to re-open the old abattoir in their village. We continue to support them in their fight to stop this ridiculous plan and assure them of our full backing.

This month we are pleased to cover

the great achievement of one of our local PCSOs, Paul Payne, as he walked the Great Wall of China, to raise money for Kidney Research, as well as reporting on an event that took place in Redcar recently, in order to help young people get into work.

So far the weather has been kind to us and on a lovely crisp, sunny day, we were delighted to attend the Integral Collection Junior Golf Classic at Hunley Hotel and Golf Club and watch some brilliant young golfers in action. You can read all about it, in the special supplement in this month’s issue. Remembrance Sunday brought out thousands of people in the area to pay their respects to the servicemen and women who gave their lives for their country. We honour these people and there is an article about one of the services plus photos from Loftus and Lockwood School, Boosbeck. We were lucky enough to see BBC Radio 2 presenter, Mike Harding in Middlesbrough recently. The show

was great and had us laughing all the way home. Read the review and our interview with Mike on the music pages. Our ever popular Towns & Villages section is full of Christmas events this month. Don’t miss out on things that could be happening in your own community. Talking of Christmas, at the time of going to print it is only 38 days away. Let’s hope the weather is kind to us all before then. We would like to point out that all letters that appear on the Points of View page are genuinely from readers and we choose not to comment on their contents. These letters are purely the views of the readers and not necessarily the views of the staff of the paper. That’s about it for this month, so enjoy the mild weather while it lasts, get out there and do your Christmas shopping and most of all stay safe and warm We hope you enjoy reading this issue.
