HIGH SCHOOL & COLLEGIATE INTENSIVES
Experimental Musical Theater Intensive: January 2–15, 2012
The Boston Conservatory’s Experimental Musical Theater Intensive (EMTI) is a two- week workshop in training and performance designed to stretch the skills of students and professionals who are involved in theater, dance and voice by using experimental modalities. Led by a team of critically acclaimed and internationally-recognized faculty, this intensive will engage students in performance practices inspired by contact improvisation, Roy Hart Theater voice work, Authentic Movement and other relevant techniques. The program concludes with performances of an original experimental theater work, which will be open to the public.
Students will emerge from this two-week intensive with the ability to examine new connections between breath, voice and movement; and they will be able to demonstrate greater proficiency in movement improvisation and partnering. We will draw on archetypes to fuel clear and emotionally connected characters leading to ensemble performance.
WHO SHOULD APPLY
To apply, students and professionals must be 18 or older and must have some foundation is music, dance and theater. Additionally, participants must be open-minded and prepared to work. College credit may be available to eligible students.
