South Tynedale Railway

Buy your ticket from a restored Victorian Railway station building for a leisurely journey through the beautiful south Tyne valley on England’s highest narrow gauge railway. The trains are hauled by preserved steam and diesel locomotives, the return journey takes about 45 minutes. Later in the year it is hoped that the extension to Lintley will open to passengers which will take the line an extra 1.5 miles down the valley. The South Tyne Valley is a site of outstanding natural beauty. The station at Alston has a gift shop, toilets and the refurbished buffer stop cafe, there is a ample free parking at Alston Station. Gift Vouchers are now available from the gift shop / ticket office which can be redeemed for train tickets or gifts. So come and have a great day out in the Pennines of Northern England.
