PlanSJ in Final Stages

PlanSJ, the process to create a new Municipal Plan that was launched in January 2010, has been the largest, most comprehensive community engagement process ever undertaken by the City. The process has been guided by the PlanSJ Team, made up of City staff, consultants and a 13-member Citizen Advisory Committee. The PlanSJ Team has worked hard over the last 22 months to engage the Saint John community and create a Municipal Plan that is holistic, supported by technical research, builds on the key issues and opportunities facing Saint John and, most importantly, is reflective of the community’s aspirations for our future.

The PlanSJ Team committed to completing the Municipal Plan for Council’s approval by the end of 2011 – and we’re almost there!

The Draft Municipal Plan was presented to the public at the Up for Review Open House on June 15, 2011 at Saint John High. The community was asked to provide comments on the Draft Municipal Plan during the following month, and over 70 written comments were received by the PlanSJ Team. The PlanSJ Team has carefully considered each of the comments, made revisions to the Draft Plan, and prepared a final draft of the Municipal Plan for presentation to Council and the community on October 11, 2011.

More details on recent public engagement activities, the comments received and the PlanSJ Team’s responses to these comments are available in the Fourth Report on Engagement and the Response to Public Input Report at www.saintjohn.ca/plansj.
