TW McCarten & Son provides a range of services from building and developing through to stove installation and chimney lining. The business was started in North Cornwall in 1975 by Terry McCarten and for the last 14 years has been run by his son, Clive. Today Clive and his wife Marianne are partners in the business which employs a small versatile team of skilled tradesmen and also works in association with various sub- contractors.

At present the business is

building a number of new houses. These include four houses of traditional construction which are being built for a client who intends to rent them out.

TW McCarten & Son is also Members of the TW McCarten team.

working on new houses for its sister company, First Choice

Homes South West Ltd, which develops properties to be sold on the open market.

Another notable recent project

was a 22-house development where nine of the properties were being made available as affordable homes. A lot of the new builds are of timber frame construction, being quicker to erect and easy to insulate.

The design work for the new properties is carried out by Tom Rogers of Rogers & Jones Architects in Plymouth. Away from the new build

market, TW McCarten & Son has in recent years been involved in five barn conversion projects. The business also operates as a maintenance sub-contractor
