South West-based R G Spiller Limited are the principal design and build contractors for this £1.2m new build and the long- established company recently carried out the £1m refurbishment of the Taunton branch for Bradfords, which was completed at the end of last year. At St Austell they had to


overcome many challenges with the build including the site being in a mining subsidence and flood risk zone and being contaminated with Japanese Knotweed. The seven-month build at St Austell comprises three single storey, steel framed buildings with an overall floor measurement of 1900m2 encompassing warehouse/offices and an external yard, and including powerfloat concrete flooring.


Fully landscaped, a pre- requisite for planning permission from the local council included the construction of a ‘Cornish hedge’, a type of traditional stone wall. For more information visit www.bradfords.co.uk.
