Keeping Fit with LTP

Lighting Technology Products help to create the perfect exercising atmosphere at next generation fitness centre in Wales.

Making sure you go to the gym can be a real chore with the wrong atmosphere. A dull row of treadmills in a brightly lit room lit simply isn’t inviting. Membership bought with the best of intentions in January becomes a distant memory around February 1st. This is why a number of gyms are utilising the power of a well-designed lighting scheme to provide members with something a little more inspiring. Llanelli, on the Welsh west coast, has

recently seen the opening of a new Robert Davies Health and Fitness Centre, which has been designed with a solution-led lighting scheme provided by Lighting Technology Products. The venue, which is in close proximity to LTP’s own base, had undergone a complete refurbishment. Once the gym as a building was up to scratch, it also required an innovative lighting system. The gym itself offers a two-floor gymnasium, sauna, steam and salt inhalation rooms, boxercise, a spinning room and two studios, along with physiotherapy areas and a coffee shop and lounge. Given the variety of different spaces

at the gym, LTP was able to design and specify effective lighting tailored to each different environment. The key areas, including the central atrium ceiling, benefit from a beautiful aesthetic provided by colour changing LED lighting. A visually vibrant centrepiece has also been created in this space, utilising multiple light sticks. Some of the spaces feature UV graffiti art, so red plexineon and UV tubes were specified and installed to accentuate the works and create a truly innovative and exciting environment for exercise. LTP’s operations manager Keith Elms is delighted with how the project turned out; “We were delighted to be involved with this local project and deliver a lighting concept to match the modern and contemporary aesthetic of the fitness centre, equipping each environment with eye-catching and appropriate lighting.”

With the updated lighting system, the gym

now has more of a nightclub or evening entertainment atmosphere, bringing the physical gym environment more in line with the fast paced music and lifestyle associated with many potential gym visitors.
