choice of a wide angle symmetrical lens for open areas or the asymmetric ‘Corridor’ lens for escape routes.

The units utilise a neat white steel box and facia plate fitted with a standard LDE 3Watt downlight and enclosing the LDCK700S emergency driver kit to provide a discrete and attractive self-contained, 3 hour duration, non-maintained emergency fitting. The 145mm square x 40mm high enclosure has a rear BESA entry and 20mm knockouts on two sides for surface conduit entry and is very simple and quick to install. With over 100Lumens output and excellent performance the LD-SM units can typically be mounted at approximately 8m centres for open areas and 11m centres for escape routes ensuring a cost effective installation.

Offering a self-contained product will be a real benefit for a number of clients as this means no unsightly large battery panels, and the units will be able to fit into smaller spaces. Traditionally, emergency lighting batteries have often been large, bulky and inconvenient for their setting. Most were larger than the actual lighting unit that they powered, and so provided an unsightly solution to a necessity. Although a self-contained unit is an excellent idea for many commercial areas, should clients wish to use an emergency lighting system with a separate battery source, the size of the source is still an issue. With the use of increasingly energy efficient light sources, battery panels for emergency lighting can now be much smaller, which is handy for

any buildings that require emergency lighting to be fitted in small spaces. Emergi-Lite Safety Systems have definitely considered the impact of a space saving emergency lighting power supply with their design of the EMEX Mini, a space saving addition to their EMEX Power central power supply systems range. The EMEX Mini is ideal for LED installations, and includes all the high performance, low maintenance features of the other products in the EMEX Power range. With its modular construction, EMEX Power reduces downtime as all major components have an installment time of approximately 15 minutes. Plus, running costs are also minimised as EMEX Power operates in a low power mode - so the inverter is not continually running and generating waste
