RENEWABLE HEAT INCENTIVE
Consumers to be paid for heat
UNDER the Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI), due to be launched later this year, consumers will be paid for producing heat from renewable sources. The exact details of the RHI are still being worked on by the Government which will set the level of payments for consumers.
People taking part in the scheme will save money by not needing to use as much gas or oil (if any), both of which are becoming increasingly expensive. Those in the scheme will be paid for each kWhr of hot water and heat they generate and use themselves. The overall cost savings are likely to be significant. Tariffs are due to be paid starting in June this year. However, any suitable system installed now will be eligible for the tariffs when they begin. If the system is under 50kW, Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS) certified installers must be used, along with the products they fit. For larger systems and all biomass systems, a company with the relevant experience and an understanding of RHI should be used. Any eligible system installed
now will be able to start receiving payments as soon as the RHI launches - and in the meantime consumers will still be saving money on heating bills. Once the RHI does launch, most installers will able to assist with registering a system. Among the renewable sources
covered by the Microgeneration Certification Scheme are: solar heating collectors, solar PV, micro wind, heat pumps, biomass and heat-led micro-CHP. ■ NEW Generation Energy is a Microgeneration Certification Scheme-registered renewable energy company that designs and installs for domestic, commercial and agricultural clients. In February, we opened a new
office and showroom at 24 Crelake Industrial Estate, Pixon Lane, Tavistock.
The time to install
photovoltaic panels and wind turbines with a good return on your initial investment is now - to enable you to take advantage of the Government’s Feed-in Tariff. Annually you are likely to see a 10 per cent or greater return on your investment.
We design and install: *Solar Photovoltaic Panels *Wind Turbines
*Air and Ground Source Heat Pumps
*Solar Thermal *Biomass.
Meanwhile, the Renewable Heat Incentive is due to be launched by the Government in June to encourage consumers to install air/ground source heat pump, solar thermal or biomass technology. Again this will be an annual payment to offset your investment costs with an estimated 10 per cent return on your investment.
