We have recently supplied a competitive estimate for large section marine grade timber, which is very specific in its requirements with each piece requiring chamfers to the face edges and four countersunk holes through a 250mm x 250mm section and up to 6.6m in length. We supply a variety of marine grade timbers and specialise in the supply of Greenheart and Purpleheart timber.

Greenheart, also know as Demerara Greenheart, is one of the strongest commercially available timbers in the market. It is ideally suited for salt and fresh water applications being classified as very durable with a minimum life of 25 years. Graded to strength class D70 by our certified graders, the quality of your Greenheart is assured.

All graders are

accredited to either BM TRADA Certification or BRE Certification. Greenheart performs well in marine and fresh water uses where strength and long life are required. It has

been known to be sound 80 years after fitting. Sizes from 2in x 4in up to 24in x 24in and lengths up to 75ft make Greenheart an extremely flexible timber for all construction projects. It is a hard, heavy, stable and

very durable timber which can be used in all fresh water and marine applications. Another extremely versatile

timber, Purpleheart, machines well, dries well and can be used both internally and externally. First imported into the UK for manufacturing into snooker cues, Purpleheart now has a much wider use. Using lesser-known species, such as Purpleheart, for marine and constructional work lessens the pressure on better- known species and therefore the forests that they come from. It is a popular timber for

external use, not only for garden furniture but also for decking and high class street and park applications. Purpleheart is imported in both log and sawn sizes so virtually any cross- sectional size is possible. After sawing, the timber is a bright purple colour which will gradually mellow to a purple grey. We also supply Opepe and Balau amongst other species. The marine timber we source and supply has full chain of custody from forest to site. The chain of custody is fully independently audited and meets CPET Cat B requirements. If you need timber for a marine application make Payne Timber your first and only port of call. For all your marine timber needs, we deliver.
