It’s not all about the turkey!


Christmas is coming and the goose is getting fat . . . And here’s a few other alternatives to the traditional turkey!


Christmas will soon be here, so when you’re ready to plan your festive meals butcher Icarus Hines will be there to help. There are lots festive choices, whether


it’s for a big family, a cosy dinner for two or a big party.


“Many people love having the traditional Christmas turkey but find a whole bird a bit daunting so this year, as well as traditional free-range turkeys, we can offer breast joints, stuffed turkey joints, turkey crowns cut from our free range turkeys and even a three bird roast,” he said.


Icarus also understands that not


everyone wants turkey at Christmas so there are plenty of other delicious options to choose from.


“Beef is becoming more popular for special occasions and we mature all our


beef for a minimum of 21 days before Christmas, the benefit being we can guarantee your joint or steaks will be succulent and tender,” said Icarus, who has shops in Cromer and Sheringham. His Norfolk free-range pork is always a favourite and good value as pennies are tight coming up to the festivities. “And who can resist that lovely crunchy crackling?” said Icarus. There’s no shortage of game in Norfolk and pheasant or venison are popular. “These are delicious cooked in a casserole with plenty of red wine (either in the chef or the dish, or both!),” he joked.


On a more serous note it also makes a


great winter warmer with roast potatoes and stuffing balls. Also don’t forget the lamb. “For
