WINNIPEG, MB—A new Hollywood film tells the story of a real-life Pennsylvania man who lived as a gang biker before con- verting to Christianity.


Machine Gun Preacher is


based on the experiences of Sam Childers, who was living a life of violence and crime as an armed guard for drug dealers before he became a missionary in southern Sudan, Africa. According to his web site,

Childers first went to southern Sudan in 1998 to repair huts dam- aged in the Second Sudanese War. He returned months later and felt God calling him to build an orphanage.
