avier Palomarez is the President and CEO of the United States Hispanic


Chamber of Commerce (USHCC), the leading advocate for nearly 3 million His- panic-owned businesses and over 200 local Hispanic chambers throughout the United States. Prior to the USHCC, Palomarez served as Vice President of Multicultural Marketing at ING Financial Services, where he was recruited to lead diversity outreach programs. He was responsible for marketing, sponsorships, public relations, and external communications to help posi- tion this global leader in the financial ser- vices industry. Palomarez is one of the nation’s preemi-


nent multi-cultural sales and marketing ex- ecutives. He is a sought-after spokesper- son, thought-leader and strategist on the issues affecting America’s consumers, par- ticularly those in the Hispanic community. His opinions and points of view have ap- peared in leading publications, including The Wall Street Journal, Business Week, USA Today, and many others. As president and CEO of the United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, Javier Palomarez has had the privilege of getting to know hundreds of Hispanic business owners throughout the country for the past two years, each with their own compelling and inspiring entrepreneurial story. His focus is to increase business opportunities for the USHCC’s three constituents: local Hispan- ic chambers, Hispanic business enterprises or HBEs, and their more than 131 corpo- rate partners including Visa, Chase, AT&T, Wells Fargo, Chase, Comcast, PepsiCo, CFSA and many others. Mr. Palomarez believes that small busi- ness is the true job creator in this nation. He works diligently with the Administra- tion, members of Congress, the SBA, and the Departments of the Treasury, Com- merce, and Health & Human Services, to ensure that government officials consider the Hispanic business community in their deliberations.

Senator Bill Nelson (D-FL) and San Antonio May- or Julian Castro addressed the Chamber Awards Breakfast; they were chosen to speak for their leadership and commitment to their constituents. Convention Corporate Chair and former Senator Mel Martinez, of JPMorgan Chase & Co. addressed the au- dience at the Chairman’s Gala. During his keynote speech, Mel Martinez provided insight into how the Hispanic community has transformed over the last few years. It is the largest gathering of Hispanic business leaders in America; this year, there was a record-breaking turnout of over 5,400 attendees. The USHCC’s focus re- mains steadfast on the critical role and im- pact that Hispanic business has on the overall economy. As Hispanic-owned busi- nesses become more numerous, it has be- come apparent that events like the USH- CC’s National Convention will be vital for entrepreneurs, corporations, chambers and even political leaders to attend each year. This year’s USHCC National Conven- tion had an impressive lineup of network- ing opportunities as well as respected lead- ers and policymakers from across the country who spoke on various issues that affect Hispanic businesses today. From the Business Matchmaking event to the Annu- al Expo, this Convention offered some- thing for every chamber executive, corpo- rate

Dollar Club Breakfast. This year’s honor- ees, which included several Fortune 500 Companies, invested a minimum of $25 million to more than $1 billion in 2010 with Hispanic (HBEs).


Business Enterprises The Business Matchmaking Event, tai-


lored for Hispanic business owners to meet and dialogue with Fortune 500 companies and federal government agencies, had the largest participation ever this year. The event serves as a forum for businesses and contractors to meet and engage with each other, giving them an opportunity to create partnerships and develop leads. In the future, the USHCC would like to bring value to its National Convention at- tendees by addressing issues critical to the growth of the Hispanic business commu- nity and shining the spotlight on those indi- viduals and corporations that are driving that economic growth. Next year’s USH- CC National Convention will be held in Los Angeles, California.
