CONFERENCE WRAP-UP
National Council of La Raza (NCLR) T
he nation’s capital had an influx of visitors recently, when thousands of individuals from across the country trav- eled to Washington, DC, to participate in the National Council of La Raza’s (NCLR) premier events, the 2011 NCLR Annual Conference and National Latino Family Expo. The 2011 NCLR Annual Conference and National Latino Family Expo took place at the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel in Washington, July 23–26. With Toyota as the Presenting Sponsor, these events marked the largest gathering of powerful, prominent, and influential voices in the Hispanic community, who discussed and debated ongoing and emerging issues facing Latinos in the U.S. This year’s conference featured nearly 60 cutting-edge workshops and multiple town halls that addressed critical issues in areas such as public policy, wealth-build- ing, workforce development, health, and education. Guests also enjoyed an impres- sive lineup of speakers including President Barack Obama, as well as great musical and entertainment acts.
