Unfortunately the people who are most passionate about the causes they are trying to promote are not always the most successful in putting their message across.


Enthusiasm is not always enough -it is vital to send concise well written professional press releases, and in many ways to approach the promotion of a cause in the same way as a company might approach the promotion of its product.


This is where a strong image can really help - recent research by PwR New Media revealed that 79% of journalists say that including a good picture with a news release increases your chance of the story being used.


Eye-catching images in blog posts and web articles can affect how they are viewed, how your blog is rated – and can lead to a story being re-published on other sites or in traditional offline media.


Artwork can also be used very directly in support of conservation awareness. In the spring of 2007 Pollyanna spent six weeks trekking and camping in the remote Himalayan kingdom of Bhutan, one of the world's last true wilderness environments.


Bhutan jealously guards its lifestyle and ancient traditions, and Pollyanna was the first wildlife artist to comprehensively document the wildlife and habitat in a series of paintings.


Pollyanna was granted a fellowship from Canada based society Artists for Conservation in support of this landmark expedition. While there, she met with government ministers, and representatives of the World Wide Fund for Nature, to learn more about the conservation issues facing the country.
