Designer Spotlight
modeling. She got a taste of the business through working with clients like Chanel, and Nordstrom. While she never attended design or fashion school, the experience she gained through model- ing offered her an invaluable first-hand look at the fashion world. Self-educating herself on the busi- ness, learning as she went.
“It’s definitely been a
long and hard road- but I think I’ve become more creative as a result. I’m very resourceful”, say Lauren Elaine.
Born and raised in San Diego, CA, sewing since the age 6, Lauren Elaine educated herself in de- sign and pattern making. But through modeling she was introduced to the world of fashion, and fell in love with it.
Through modeling and acting, she’s been fortu- nate to work directly with some of my favorite ac- tresses and actors. And since launching her brand, she’s been fortunate to catch the attention of many celebrities who have worn my pieces and designs on the red carpet, and in magazine spreads. While the fashion scene in LA may not be as saturated as that of New York- the merging of fashion and the entertainment industry provides unbeatable marketing and publicity opportunities, which have really helped her grow her brand and image. I’ve always been creative, and
I get no greater pleasure than creating some- thing, whether it is a character in a movie, or a collection, says Lauren Elaine. While she loves modeling and acting, her heart is in design. Lau- ren Elaine states,“I love being able to present a product that is not myself”.
Design was something she definitely fell into. After high school, she turned down opportunities to model abroad, and instead attended the Uni- versity of Texas, majoring in film production and specializing in art direction. It was through art direction that she really feel in love with design, and slowly started the process of launching her own clothing line.
She officially launched the ‘Lauren Elaine’ brand at LA Fashion Week in October 2009.

When asked what she would like people who buy her designs to know about her? Lauren Elaine said, “First of all, everything is made in USA! That’s very important to me- and I plan to keep it that way. I’d like customers to know that what they are wearing does not come from sweatshops oversees or at the cost of child laborers”.
