READ WRITE INC. PHONICS DEVELOPMENT DAY Course Ref: RWI-DD


Audience: Suitable for trained Read Write Inc. schools, for on-going professional development of staff.


Includes: One day support for on-going development of Read Write Inc. in your school. 8.30am-4.30pm


Note: this is a day when your school is open, not a school closure day.


Our most successful Read Write Inc. schools have found Development Days invaluable in helping to ensure staff continually improve and update their skills in teaching children using Read Write Inc.


An experienced trainer will spend the day in your school working alongside your Read Write Inc. Manager. The day will be tailored to suit the needs of your school. The trainer can: • Teach lessons with children for staff to observe • Explain the latest assessment and tracking systems • Check groupings • Support foundation stage teachers in organising their phonics teaching • Advise on the management of reading teachers • Demonstrate how to tutor individual children who require extra support • Lead an afternoon phonic writing session for support staff • Lead an after school discussion on the key issues of the day

Catch-up Training


READ WRITE INC. ONE-TO-ONE TUTORING TRAINING Course ref: RWI-OTO


Audience: Class teachers and TAs This course provides teachers and TAs with the skills and knowledge needed to tutor individual children who are falling behind their peers, and help them to catch up as quickly as possible. It can also be used to teach any child to read on a one-to-one basis.


Includes: One day training at a centrally arranged venue or as in-school training.


This training will cover all aspects of teaching a child to read on a one-to- one basis, using the Read Write Inc. One-to-one Phonics Tutoring Kit.


Staff will learn how to teach children to: • Read 44 sounds • Blend for reading • Read high frequency irregular words • Apply their phonic knowledge to read decodable storybooks
