Local Non-Profit Goes Solar with Help of Sonoma County’s Westcoast Solar Energy
home San Pg 30
SANTA ROSA, CA. ~ The Futon Shop's
CLICKS AND BRICKS – A SAN FRANCISCO STORY is
Francisco,
SANTA ROSA, CA. ~ Thanks to an installation performed by Westcoast Solar Energy, the Children’s Village of Sonoma County will be pro- ducing their own clean power for years to come. Westcoast was not only chosen to per- form the installation because of the quality work they do, but because they understand how to work with the Sonoma County Energy Independence Program (SCEIP) to fund proj- ects within the community. This project was the first non- profit building installation to be funded through SCEIP. The Children’s Village has been aiming to go solar since their facility was built and with help from the Sonoma County Energy Independence Program, that goal was reached. “We were able to help Children’s Village with their financing. As a Property Assessed Clean Energy pro- gram, the financing is held as an assessment against the property and is paid back twice yearly
through the property
tax system with just 7% sim- ple interest,” explains Diane
Lesko, Transition Manager with SCEIP. SCEIP financing follows
the property, not the owner. There is no credit check and the financed amount does not affect the owner’s debt- to-income ratio. With the help of knowledgeable solar installers and the SCEIP staff the process is relatively easy and quick. “We had a good experience with West Coast,” explained Donna Doncaster from the Village.
The instal-
lation is projected to save the non-profit $26,700.00 annu- ally on electric bills. Westcoast Solar Energy is a full service independent solar integrator based in Sonoma County. Every
installation,
residential or commercial, is custom designed to meet the job's energy requirements and the natural potential of the location. For additional infor- mation, go to www.westcoast-
solarenergy.com.

California where we hand make premium futon sofa beds, organic futons, mattresses, and beddings since 1976 using materials grown in America and all of them Earth friend- ly. Entrepreneur Suzanne Diamond combines a winning combination of creative blend of manufacturing and retail. Any business requires a flair for picking and displaying distinc- tive merchandise, quality customer service along with great prices. The Futon Shop embodies these qualities without exception. It all began in a garage, sewing futon mattresses by hand and has grow to 11 retail stores in California, a 30,000 foot manufac- turing plant in San Francisco as well as a national dealers network from New York to Texas.
The Futon Shop is the only futon
retailer in America utilizing two gar- net machines which takes bales of American grown organic cotton from America’s farmlands and virgin wool from sheep farmed in Texas and felts them together to create layers of fluffy fibers which is then placed in our mattresses. They offer a wide variety of futon mattresses for any personal comfort and budget levels. Not only is the fiber naturals but all the polyurethane foam used is made from Soybean oils, not to mention natural Latex NLR, and pocketed coils made from recycled steel. They really care! Eco-friendly wood sofa beds frames and loveseat frames and platform beds from reforested woods palate that the futon shop uses to showoff there 33 fabulous green and organic mattresses. They even offer custom sizes for boats, RVS, window seats and outdoor seating.
The Futon Shop is proud to manu-
facture products that make a differ- ence in the environment, our Earth’s soil, water, air and for countless liv- ing things. Simply by going organic when you purchase a new organic futon, organic futon mattress or sofa bed; and in what you wear, sleep on, wash and dry with, and what you consume, you can help replenish our planet and safeguard its future abun- dance for the next generations.
The Futon Shop in Santa Rosa is moving to a new location at 2724 Santa Rosa Avenue.
