The Bank of Ireland Seed and Early Stage Equity Fund has led an 800k euro investment in Dublin-based Ikon Semiconductor, a fabless semiconductor company developing novel solutions for the LED lighting industry. The syndicated investment comprises a 400k euro investment by the Bank of Ireland Seed Fund with the remainder of the funds provided by Simple.ie Green BES Fund, Enterprise Ireland and private investors.

Experts from the Hayley Group knew maximum load on the gearbox occurred when the mill was started and that, if this load could be reduced, a smaller gearbox could be used. The direct-on-line starter was replaced with a Ralspeed VSD that would give a smooth controlled start up with reduced peak torque.With the replacement gearbox installed, albeit of a smaller size than originally envisaged, and the VSD in place of the direct-on-line starter, the mill was back in use in less than two weeks.
