November RallySprint set for Waterford Airport

arrick on Suir Motor Club will hold a Winter RallySprint on Sunday the 6th on November at in Waterford

Airport Business Park, Killowen. The club are delighted to announce that proceeds from the event will be presented to the South Eastern Cancer Foundation, The Solas Centre. The event will be jointly sponsored by Tom Geraghty and his Waterford City based company Geraghty Tyres, plus Bridgestone Ireland. Tom stated after

being approached, “Motorsport and Carrick Motor Club have formed a huge

part of my life; I’m delighted to be involved with this event and to see the club

bring the Solas Centre Cancer Foundation on board. Cancer hits us all and to have an organization like this in Waterford is very significant. The work carried out in the Solas Centre, benefits not only the patients but their families. I implore everyone to support this cause and come along on the day to enjoy a great day’s action at Waterford Airport.” Ann Marie Power said, “The Solas

Centre is delighted to be associated with the Carrick-on-Suir Motor Club in its endeavours to fundraise for the Solas Centre.” Clerk of the course for the RallySprint

and Chairman of the club, Terence Kearney said, “There is hardly a family in the country that has not been affected by cancer. The disease does not just affect the patient, it also affects their families as their loved ones go through treatment and deal with coping with the disease and the side effects of the treatment. This is where the important work of the Solas Centre comes to the fore, through the range of services the centre provides they give valuable help to the patients and their families. All this costs a lot of financial support. There are already a number of events taking place each year in aid of the ‘Solas Centre’ and I’m delighted to add the Carrick on Suir motor Club to the list. I invite each and every one of you to our RallySprint on November

Rally Legend Russell Brookes

6th, even if you’re not interested in Motorsport this event has a more important cause and I can a sure you’ll enjoy the action at Waterford Airport.” One of the main attractions on the day

apart for the RallySprint competition, will be the on the ‘Day Spins’. In the build up to last year’s Halloween Historic Stages event, rally legend of the 80’s Russell Brookes was approached to take part. This set in motion a new relationship between the club and one of sport’s greatest drivers. When Russell found out that the event would not be taking place this year he was still eager to come across to take part in the RallySprint. It was at this point that the club decided to organise a raffle for spins with the great man in his Talbot Sunbeam. Club members James Coleman and Paul Mulcahy were also eager to get involved in an effort to raise funds through the raffle for the charity.
