Cortijo de Cabreron Costa Teguise Map ref: D5 Web ref: 2500 Sleeps 5 | 4 Bedrooms | 1 Bathroom

Surrounded on all sides by a seemingly endless expanse of open countryside with barely a neighbour in sight and yet only 4.3km fromthe sandy palmlined beaches of the bustling coastline of Costa Teguise, this traditional and beautifully presented country cottage is a charming and unusual discovery.

Sitting sedately at the end of an unmade country track,Cortijo de Cabreron enjoys an idyllic rural location. In all directions, the view ahead is of a sweeping panorama ofmoorland stretching out towards gently undulating hills, interrupted only occasionally by the white outline of a distant property. To the east, the waters of the nearby sea can be seen on the horizon.

Such apparently infinite rustic vistasmake it hard to believe that amenities are so close to hand, but a drive of just over 4km reveals the lively shoreline with its golden sand beaches, shops, cafés, restaurants and water sporting activities. Alternatively, drive some 20minutes north through blissfully unspoilt countryside to discover the authentic fishing village of Arrieta, where traditional narrow streets house a collection of typical whitewashed homes and one of the island’smost highly recommended local restaurants.

Built by its current owner’s great grandparents and lovingly cared for by successive generations of the family, the house itself oozes character and a delightful sense of homeliness. Thick stone walls, colourful ceramics and paintwork sit alongside beautifully coordinated furnishings and a wealth of eye catching traditional features.Equally charming is the outdoor area where the swimming pool is surrounded by a rustic stone terrace, a wood covered dining area and a garden of bright flowers and cacti.

It is hard to imagine a better vantage point fromwhich to appreciate themany and varied features of this fascinating island than thatwhich is provided by this stylish village home.Ahead, the shimmering blue waters of the nearby sea are enticingly close by; to the back rolling hills rise up above the rooftops of the pretty village and in the distance, the imposing outline of enigmaticmountains signal the proximity of the TimanfayaNational Park. All of this can be surveyed as a splendid 360 degree panoramic vista fromthe property’s roof terrace, whilst the pool and its adjacent terraces enjoy themost picturesque of views across gently undulating countryside towards the nearby sea.

Its privileged position in the pretty rural community of Las Breñas means that CasaMariola is only 300mfromthe nearest of the village’s two restaurants, whilst the island’s sandy shores are just 3.5kmaway via scenic lanes. This picturesque south-western corner of Lanzarote is home to some of the island’smost sought after beaches, with the string of unspoilt sandy coves of Papagayo being only 20minutes fromthe house on themost southerly tip of the coastline.Another of the islands highlights, the flower-decked village of Yaiza, provides all amenities and is just 7minutes away by car.

A recent and contemporary design has ensured that CasaMariola’s smart rooms are light and airy, with up-to-date furnishings and attractive pastel colour schemes. Upstairs on the first floor an en suite bedroomenjoys easy access to the property’s roof terrace whilst downstairs in the spacious living roompatio doors lead the way to the outdoor area where a shady pergola provides an ideal spot for al fresco dining whilst looking out onto the pool and a pretty garden of cactus plants, splashed with the bright foliage so typical of these southerly isles.
