SCENE: Sandringham Art Fair by Deepa Wallis of Lazy Giraffe Jewellery

The Sandringham Craft, Sculpture & Art Fair returns for its second year between the 12th and 14th August, set in the grounds of the prestigious Sandringham Estate. The fair focuses on hands-on demonstrations of handmade things.

Already well established, this fair

offers a unique opportunity to experience our national heritage in the form of traditional crafts and practical demonstrations of how these traditional crafts are made, affording the chance to take away a part of that experience with you.

The event will feature working marquees with crafts such as glassmaking, ceramics, woodturning, blacksmithing and rural skills. A larger area will encompass thatching,

The Chainsaw Carving Competition runs for the whole weekend, where carvers will compete to win the sought after ‘Sandringham Cup’ – this attracts the best carvers from around the country.

Participants

will carve a large sculpture which will be available to buy on Sunday afternoon. There will also be a speed carving

competition each day,

where carvers produce a sculpture in 30 minutes; all the sculptures will be auctioned off at the end of each day.

For those visitors wanting to try their hand at a new craft there will be a smorgasbord of workshops taking place where visitors can learn to paint, spin or knit. There will also be an opportunity for visitors to try
