HOW TO APPLY
THE APPLICATION PROCESS IN 5 EASY STEPS
Submit an Application Form. You can do this in the one of the following ways: 1. Fill out the Application Form found at the back of this Prospectus. 2. Apply online at
www.boston.ac.uk or, 3. Contact the Information Officers on 01205 313218 who will send you an Application Form in the post.
Once your application is received, the Learner Services staff read your application to make sure you get the best advice from the staff at the College.
Option 1. A general guidance interview can provide you with ideas, information and help if you’re unsure about qualifications, careers, which courses to take, or what to do next.
Option 2. A course ‘interview’ will provide detailed information about an individual course and help you decide which level of study is right for you. At this meeting you will receive one of the following: • An unconditional offer - if you already have the qualifications or experience to join the course.
• A conditional offer - for example, if you pass an agreed number of GCSE’s and achieve a suitable school reference, or pass an assessment day (where applicable).
• The offer of a further guidance session if you want to find out about other courses.
You will be sent a letter confirming the offer (and which type of offer) after your interview.
Before you start your course we will invite you to enrol and provide you with all the information you need to join your course and become a Boston College learner.
We will endeavour to find the right course for everyone who applies to Boston College no matter what qualification or previous experience they have. However, we are only able to do this if space is available. This is why we encourage early applications to avoid disappointment.
WE’RE HERE TO HELP...
• Your ‘interview’ will be friendly and informal. It is not a test, but a good way of finding out the information we need to help you make the right choices. If you wish, you can bring along a friend or your parents.
• We want you to come to Boston College and with over 200 courses available, it is important to find out which is best for you.
• We want you to be successful on your course. We will provide you with as much help and information as possible to help you make the right choice.
• If you apply for a course and change your mind, or if you’re offered a place but don’t make the entry requirements, we will help you find a suitable alternative.
