President’s Letter
WELCOME TO HARWOOD HEIGHTS & NORRIDGE! Dear Residents & Members,
The Chamber officers and I are happy to be able to present to you this years’ community guide!
This community guide is only one of the many benefits our villages receive from the collaboration between businesses, local government, and residents. Working together we can promote our community, our businesses and our towns and make it a better place for all.
We hope this guide will serve residents as a valuable tool for finding businesses, schools, churches, organizations and governmental services in the area. We also hope it will serve members as a valuable means for reaching customers, promote their business and support the chamber and communities.
This past year as president has been an easy one to be quite honest. The chamber is on “cruise control”. We have certain events in place: Officer inauguration, community guide, scholarship recipient selection, business expo, annual golf event, Christmas dinner. Sprinkle a few membership drives, after hour events, and morning meetings and you have yourself a full schedule.
It hasn’t always been this way, however, and it’s at this time I would like to take the opportunity to thank Chamber heroes, past & present.
I would like to thank Elsa Volpe, first President and one of the founding members. Jeffrey Nawcewicz, first treasurer. Special thanks to Mark Dobrzycki, founding member, current Village Liaison to the chamber, trustee to the Village of Harwood Heights. If it wasn’t for Mark’s initial efforts to get this chamber going we (Harwood Heights & Norridge) would probably still be without a chamber of commerce! Thanks to his hard work and vision we now enjoy a chamber boasting close to 100 members!
Thanks to the Block Family foundation for their repeated, generous donations. Thanks to the late Mayor Earl Field. Thanks to his cooperation, the chamber realized one of its long term dreams. That of
being conjoined with its neighboring town, Norridge.
Thanks to Mark Dobrzycki and Elsa Volpe once more, and also Demetrios “Jimmy” Mougolias, for approaching me years ago with the opportunity to serve as this chamber’s president. I thank them for seeing something in me that they thought would be useful to this chamber and community. I hope I’ve lived up to their expectations.
Of course I would like to thank the chamber’s current officers, listed in the guide, that serve with me side by side. A special thanks and welcome to Warner DeJulio for taking on the role of VP of Membership. I especially want to thank current Mayor, Arlene Jezierny, and Village President Ron Oppedisano. Thanks to their efforts and support the chamber continues to flourish in unity.
Last, but not least by any means, I would like to thank the Chamber’s event committee and its chair, Gale Cerabona. Thanks to Gale’s organizational, as well as, visionary skills the Chamber enjoys successful event after successful event. Obviously, she can’t do it alone. Thanks to Pat Modrzejewski and Katherine Kochowicz. What a team these three ladies form and the chamber is fortunate to have them.
In closing, my hope is that this guide is also a reminder to residents that screams: SHOP LOCALLY. I hope it is an invite to business owners in the community who might not be members yet, that says: JOIN US!
Either way, the chamber and I hope to see you soon! Sincerely,
Anthony Pinello President
