Ray Wilkins

Ray Wilkins MBE is one of the true greats of British football. A key midfi elder for the England national team during the 1980s, he’s enjoyed success at various clubs including Manchester United, Rangers and Chelsea. He was also an ambassador at the launch of Lucozade’s title sponsorship of Powerleague.

Can you remember the fi rst watch you ever had? It was a Timex that my mum and dad bought as a gift. I thought it was wonderful.

How many watches do you now own? I like watches and am more of a special occasion buyer but I have to admit to fi ve in total. My current favourite is a Cartier Tank Americaine. I like the style and the long face is a bit different.

What does your watch mean to you? The Cartier has defi nite sentimental value as it was a gift from my wife for my 40th birthday.

How often do you wear a watch? Every day. I would feel naked without one.

Do you always have your eye on a specifi c brand or model?

I’m very open minded when I go watch buying but I am a fan of the Cartier and Ebel ranges. They both look special.

Wynne Evans

Opera singer Wynne Evans is the face and voice of the hugely successful GoCompare.com advertising campaign. In 2010 he signed a six album deal with Warner Bros and his fi rst album A Song in My Heart went to number 1 in the classical charts.

Can you remember the fi rst watch you ever had?

My parents gave me a Casio watch which had a calculator on it and I thought it was the best thing ever.

What watch are you currently wearing? I just bought a watch named ‘Parsifal’. With the operatic link, I had to have it.

Do you have a watch for very special occasions? I have the philosophy that these things are to be worn, not saved for special occasions. The guys who write my ads are into watches and they try to educate me about ‘great’ watches. One has an antique gold Rolex which is so simple but so classy.

Any watch style or brand that you tend to stick to?

I am always on the lookout for something different that will catch the eye and be a real conversation piece. But at the same time I like to keep it simple.

What would be your dream watch? I like silver watches and was immediately drawn to the Tiffany & Co watch collection in PARKHOUSE the jeweller. Perhaps one of those might end up being my dream watch.
