Swansea Grand Theatre


There’s plenty to laugh about this season at Swansea Grand Theatre. Master of observational comedy and star of ‘Have I Got News for You’, Ed Byrne (16+), is on 7th November. The nation’s favourite pub philosopher, Al Murray (14+), will be serving up his special brew of bar room banter on 9th November. The outrageously funny Puppetry of the Penis (16+) returns on 12th November and this time it’s in 3D. For a night of qwaliteeeeeee entertainment don’t miss Lee Nelson…Live! (16+) on 24th November. For a unique evening of stories, songs and silliness join Tony Hawks (14+) on 7th December.


Buddy Holly and the Cricketers, featuring all of Buddy’s classics, plus the greatest hits from the legends of the era, are on 11th November. One of the biggest selling groups of all time, The Drifters, is on 23rd November. Legendary singer, songwriter and former frontman of Ace, Squeeze and Mike and the Mechanics, Paul Carrack is on 25th November. The Sensational 60s Experience is on 29th November. Featuring many of the Christmas favourites of Bing Crosby, Nat King Cole and Frank Sinatra, the Christmas Crooners are back on 5th December. Join Shakin’ Stevens on his 30th Anniversary Tour on 8th December. Mr ‘Go Compare’, the tenor Wynne Evans, entertains on 9th December.


Musicality presents Back Stage Pass, a quirky behind the scenes look at the running of the company told through well-known song and dance numbers on 13th November. Abbey Players present the Welsh amateur premiere of Amazing Grace from 15th to 19th November. Gower College Swansea presents Side by Side on 22nd November, featuring song and dance from the world of musical theatre and pupils from local secondary schools.


Ballet Theatre UK performs the classic fairy tale ballet, The Snow Queen on 8th November. Verdi’s tragic tale of searing passion and memorable

music, La Traviata is on 20th November. The London Festival Opera returns to the Grand Theatre for a new A Night at the Opera on 30th November.


In An Audience with Ann Widdecombe on 10th November, the larger than life politician entertains and enthrals with her witty and controversial speeches on 10th November. Show stopping ballads, amazing vocal impersonations, a stunning array of costumes and a live band in Missleading Ladies, with Ceri Dupree and Ria Jones on 26th November. The Lady Boys of Bangkok (12+) are back with another fl amboyant spectacle on 28th November. Back by popular demand, Sally Morgan is at the theatre on 5th December.


The Agatha Christie Theatre Company presents Verdict, the most riveting and compelling drama by the undisputed ‘Queen of Crime’, from 31st October to 5th November. Starring Susan Penhaligon (Emmerdale), Robert Duncan (Gus Hedges in Drop the Dead Donkey), Peter Byrne (Dixon of Dock Green), Lyndon Ogbourne (Emmerdale), Elizabeth Power (Eastenders) and 60s pop idol, Mark Wynter.


The children’s spectacular, The Bumbles of Mumbles celebrates 25 years and is at the theatre on 2nd and 3rd December.


Don’t miss this year’s pantomime spectacular Aladdin in 3D, starring Jimmy Osmond and the ever popular Kevin Johns as Widow Twankey. The Genie of the Lamp comes to life in amazing 3D and at certain points throughout the show the audience, wearing 3D glasses, can rub the magic lamp as it appears in front of their noses, summon the Genie and join Aladdin on a superb magic carpet ride. Performances start on 16th December and run until 15th January 2012.
