fall and winter. Keep track of what’s coming up in the newsletter.

Successful events: It’s autumn with lots of great activities in store at the center. Oktoberfest was a great success with a particularly delightful traditional German dinner. More festivities are in store for

City funding issue: The last three months have been a whirlwind of additional work for the staff while working with the Parks and Recreation Board to maintain our 2012 funding at the 2011 level. We are fortunate to have a P & R Board that is open minded and willing to listen. In the end, they have restored the funding to the senior and youth centers of Spokane for the coming year.

Because of this fragile funding source, our SSCC Board is anticipating a dues increase beginning January 2012 from $25 to $35 which will be discussed at the general membership meeting.

General membership meeting: The SSCC annual general membership

meeting FOR members will follow the traditional Thanksgiving lunch to be served Tuesday, November 15 at 11:30 am. Plan to sign up in advance for the luncheon and stay on for the annual meeting that will follow. We will vote for board members in addition to hearing first-hand about the activities of the board. If you would like to nominate candidates for the board or run for the board yourself, you are welcome to do so. Please let me or Bonnie know ASAP.

Thanks for courtesy: Thanks to all of our members for respecting the fire lanes at the entrance of our building and parking in the lot. During a recent occurrence at the center, emergency vehicles were able to respond unimpeded.
