Rainforest Tears of the Forest

How long will the rainforest last? Will the tree frog begin to starve? Will the leopard lose his prey? Will the elephant go astray? Do the trees cry at night

At the thought of the axe’s bite? Chop!

Harry Walker Rainforest

The gentle flap of wings high up above the Canopy The jumping fish in and out of the river The song of the birds drifts me gently to sleep In my dreams the rainforest is burning People are cutting down trees

There are dead animals everywhere A truck is leaving piled high with trees I jump in front of it

Then out of nowhere my local tribe attacks!

I wake up - it’s a dream, there is still a rainforest. Laurie Holdsworth

Laughter and Silence

The rainforest lives and breathes like a human The rainforest leans and creaks as you walk The plants climb to find a place for sunlight Tree trunks swirl as you walk past.

Wildlife buzzing and howling with laughter Toucans fly above, roaring like monsters Then crash a chainsaw flies through a tree

And then silence - the rainforest is as quiet as a mouse. Mikey Johnson

I am the Rainforest!

The Blue Morpho Butterfly flying round the giants The Coati scurrying around looking for food The Keel Billed Toucan calling for friends The Amazon River Turtles splashing in the water The Blue Poisoned Frogs looking for something to eat The Golden-Headed Lion Tamarin scurrying up trees from its predator

The roar of the Jaguar was heard as it spotted its prey And pounced – the scream of death.

Then chop, chop, chop and the roar of the chainsaw My family’s houses being chopped down Me being chopped down Timber!

SOS Rainforest!!! Oliver Pitt

Noise of the Rainforest

The huge giants reaching The scattering of leaves The squawking of the birds The leaping frogs The patter of the rain

The chatter of the monkeys The thud of the gorillas The hissing of the snakes The camouflage of the iguanas

All this will be gone if we chop down the rainforests All this will be gone…

Felix Marshall-Williams Why?

Why are the animals going missing? Why are their homes disappearing? Why is the rainforest getting smaller? My eyes are shocked,

I don’t want to look any more. Leo Paddock

Golden Beetle

Shining star of the rainforest Flying angel of the trees Nothing as gracious

Do you want to destroy its habitat? Bubbling with life

Lungs of the Earth It’s your choice!

Solomon Clarke
