From the Headmaster


If a picture paints a thousand words, then The Elizabethan offers much the same illustration of the last school year. Through these pages you can glimpse the rich variety of life at QEH and can appreciate the achievements of boys both in and out of the classroom. There are words here as well, of course, revealing the creative and journalistic talents of the editorial team and other contributors. I congratulate all involved in producing such a stylish and comprehensive record of school activities over the last twelve months.


The audience for this magazine is wide. Current pupils and parents will inevitably enjoy remembering great matches, reliving moments on stage and learning of the experiences of friends across the school; prospective parents will, I hope, sense that QEH is a school that values and promotes all-round achievement and tries to offer boys plenty of opportunities to succeed and enjoy life. There is also something here for former pupils, principally the reassurance that the school continues to thrive and look to the future.


QEH is a proud school with much to celebrate. It has changed a lot in its 421 year history, yet in many ways remains true to its founder’s intentions. We carry forward the aim of providing a first class education for the boys of Bristol and this magazine is evidence of that. Happy reading!
