SPORT - RUGBY 117
U12 B XV

In our first season at QEH, the U12B team fought well against some tough opponents. Although results often weren’t in our favour, the team enjoyed their first experience of school rugby, showing great determination and teamwork.
Overall, we only won one game against Prior Park (20-5) and drew in a hard-fought encounter against Monmouth, the score being 15-15. Despite being on the end of a few negative results, the team gelled well and by the end of the season we were able to compete against all opposition. We look forward to improving further next year!
Finally, I would like to thank our coach, Mr Ellis, for his hard work and patience, as well as our loyal band of supporters, whose touchline support was well received by the players.

We had a few training sessions to select the team players we needed. We had a limited amount of time to train as a team, causing a lack of positioning when we needed it. Our first few matches were a real challenge but made us learn. We had the individual players but we needed to come together as a team, although we had the aggression, the pace and the spirit. We also needed to improve our passing along the line technique and some working together with the rucking - we did really well, considering the circumstances. The last couple of matches were a real learning experience for us. Showing off our new found teamwork, we were a lot better as a team despite Luke’s glory runs with grubber kicks!
I’d like to thank Mr Perkins and
Mr.Scoble for being there at every match, supporting us, giving us briefs on how we were going at half time and even giving us quick passing drills at the start of the match. I’m looking forward to the next year of rugby when we can get in some nice play with competent players in a more organised team!

The season was blighted somewhat by bad weather but a few games were still played, plus House matches and Sevens. The various U12 teams struggled against good opposition, but a sporting gesture by Monmouth made the return games more even and valuable.
