Lee County Cattleman’s Ranch Rodeo and Jackpot A Success
By Julie Higginbotham, Secretary
The Lee County Cattleman’s Qualifying Ranch Rodeo at the Lee County Posse Arena was a success. The event was hosted by the Lil Cowpoke Rodeo Asso- ciation as a fund-raiser for their youth rodeo Finals. There were 14 teams entered and several on a waiting list to compete. The LCRA put on a barrel jack- pot immediately following the rodeo with 52 entries, some of which were cowboys and cow- girls who competed in the ranch rodeo. The LCRA would like to thank you all for your support. Team Doctoring was won by Schroder Manatee Ranch and CJC Cattle Co. with a smokin’ 21.80. Team Sorting was won by Babcock Ranch with a great time of 55.68. Babcock and their team were kind enough to do- nate their entry fees and win- nings back to the LCRA club! What a great group of people. The Relay Race was won by vet-
erans A Bar L Cattle Co. with a 54.06. The crowd favorite, Trailer Loading was won by the Semi- nole Tribe of Florida’s Brighton Crew with an unbelievable time of 51.45. The new event to the rodeo, Stray Gathering , proved to be challenging but not to the team from Stevens Land & Cat- tle who won it with a 79.96. The winning teams of each event won awards and prizes and the top three teams were awarded prizes and cash pay- back. The third place team was Babcock Ranch (39 pts) and the second place team was SMR/ CJC (39 pts) determined by a tie breaker. The team that will head to the Cattleman’s Finals representing their win here in Ft. Myers is Stevens Land & Cattle (47 pts). The Stevens’ team’s en- try fees will be paid to the Finals and they were awarded trophy buckles for their win.
