Junior Trail
Haley Webb
Hi, my name is Haley Webb,
and I am serving as your Florida Junior Cattlemen’s Association Secretary, as I have now for the past three years. I am 18 years old and about to graduate from Charlotte High School in Punta Gorda where I live with parents, Orrin and Cindy Webb. Growing up in a family where agriculture and the beef industry were very important, it was only natural that I too would become involved. I have been showing cattle all over the state of Florida since I was 8 years old, and have loved every minute of it. One of the highlights that I’ve
had serving as a JFCA officer has been traveling to National Convention the past two years. Both years, I have enjoyed being a member of the beef quiz bowl team. I have come back from the trips with many great memories and knowledge that will last a lifetime. I have also met many amazing junior members during my three years of service, and it has made me optimistic about the future of agriculture, knowing that they will be our leaders one day.

Throughout my years in high school, I have been very involved in FFA, and have met many young people across the country that plan to continue in agriculture as a career. Through the state officer screening process in April, I was chosen as one of two presidential candidates to serve on the 2011- 2012 Florida FFA state officer team. I’m looking forward to my year of service to the greatest student- lead organization in the world. After my year of service, I plan to obtain a degree in animal science through the University of Florida. The knowledge and experience I have gained through FFA and the Florida Junior Cattlemen’s Association have helped me set personal and career goals for myself. I hope to be able to give back to both associations and help other students to become more involved in agriculture. For Winston Churchill once said, “We make a living by what we get. We make a life by what we give.” ❒

advice. As I mentioned before, just be yourself. Appreciate everything, and always be polite and courteous. You are no longer just representing yourself, but you are representing your county and possibly your state. There will always be people looking up to you, and this can be pretty intense. Just remember that you are human, and that no one can expect more than your best. Have fun with everything, because this is one of the most amazing experiences you will ever come across. You will grow more than you ever expected, and you will have a great support system. I feel extremely blessed to have met every one of you, and I know that you will do great things in our industry. As always, I end my article with
a huge THANK YOU to the people out there making it happen. Keeping our industry and our heritage alive. To our Cattlemen and Cattlewomen who continue to produce and feed the world: we appreciate everything you do! To our representatives in Congress, our Agriculture commissioner, the agriculture teachers around the state, all of the FFA and 4-H leaders, and everyone involved in any way, shape or form; thank you for what you do. Without everyone working together, this industry would not be as strong as it is. Thank you all for supporting
me thus far, and I hope that I will continue to make you all proud. I love this industry and everyone involved. If I can be of assistance in any way, please do not hesitate to contact me! Thank you again, and God Bless.
