ministers or clergy. This is illustrated by the degree of self-resourcing by ministers of single churches compared to those with multiple churches.
• Regional differences. Some clear differences emerge, particularly between West Midlands and North East case studies. These may not simply be due to more detailed issues of geography or denominational or church structural differences. This is illustrated by the case of the Growing Leaders training and resources from CPAS.
• Differences in type of rural location. These emerge in two aspects: (a) With individual interviewees, usually ministers from remote and isolated locations, who frequently stress that key factors influencing the mission and ministry of their rural church are rather different to those in suburban or urban areas and, significantly, also different to those in less remote rural locations; (b) In the responses of a broader range of interviewees considering the delivery of resources and training, and barriers to their participation in learning or uptake – where geography and degree of rurality influence the major difficulties they identify.
